Fundraising Manager (7 hours per week)

An experienced Fundraising Manager is required to work with a Lothian charity. The charity offer support, understanding and help to bereaved parents who have experienced the death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or soon after birth.

Key Role Objectives
To plan, develop and manage the charity’s fundraising activity and events to grow the fundraising income and supporter base.

Role Summary
This is a new role within our team which will lead on creating new opportunities for fundraising and identify new individual and corporate supporters.  You will create and drive innovative techniques to increase participation and income.

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced fundraiser with an excellent understanding of the charity sector.   You will have a track record of developing and growing income streams, and maintaining positive donor journeys specifically in relation to event fundraising.   A highly effective communicator, you will have excellent copywriting skills and be confident in the use of social media.  You will be able to communicate and liaise with bereaved families regarding fundraising and events.

With strong organisational skills, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to meet set deadlines and targets, and produce a high standard of work even when under pressure.  A real team-player, you will have a highly flexible and pro-active approach.  You will oversee the work of the Sports Fundraiser (3 hour per week) and support them to achieve their targets.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Reporting

  • Research and identify new opportunities for fundraising to achieve agreed income targets and appeal to a wide range of audiences
  • Work with the CEO to develop the annual plan for bespoke and regular fundraising initiatives
  • Actively seek stakeholder involvement, engagement and feedback to help inform the development of future work.
  • Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities in order to keep the CEO and Board of Trustees informed
  • Compile and deliver progress reports to donors and funders as required

 

Events

  • Develop and organise new fundraising incentives and partnerships
  • Identify new and potential supporters and encourage them to sign up to our series of events to maximise the potential raised
  • Attend events, as necessary (sometimes outside normal working hours, on weekends) as our representative
  • Grow income from our annual awareness events
  • Support the Sports fundraiser by identifying new challenge events and initiatives to consider
  • Supervise volunteers at challenge and sporting events as required

 

 

Corporate

  • Develop relationships with current corporate stakeholders and identify and cultivate relationships with new ones in a variety of ways including by phone, in writing and face to face meetings as appropriate.
  • Grow regular corporate giving initiatives including payroll giving and charity of the year partnerships

 

Communications & Social Media

  • Work, as required, with the staff to prepare communications to reach a wide range of potential and current supporters through a variety of media.
  • Acknowledge and thank all fundraisers via social media and regular mail. Obtain regular feedback to facilitate improvements to the continual fundraiser journey.
  • Proactively build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, involving them in positive ways to ensure long term positive outcomes.
  • Manage communication to funders and supporters via the website, social media and other marketing materials

 

General

Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the roll as directed

  • Maintain confidentiality over personal information relating to staff and supporters.
  • Abide by all  Policies and Procedures.
  • Undertake all mandatory training as required.
  • Participate in annual appraisal and personal development review.

 

Person Specification

Essential Experience/Skills Desirable skills
  • Track record of meeting ambitious fundraising targets and sole responsibility for generating fundraising  income
  • Experienced in organising and promoting events within the charity sector.
  • Experience of developing and growing income streams
  • Strong verbal communication both on the telephone, in person and public speaking engagements
  • Social media skills and strong IT skills
  • Excellent budget management experience
  • Good copywriting skills
  • Financial literacy
  • Experience of working with third sector and varied client groups

Qualifications required  
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or have significant experience of working in a similar role

 

  • Certificate in Fundraising or membership of Institute of Fundraising
